The FTA has two purposes: one, for those who are interested in a career in education, and two, for those interested in educational enrich- ment. The members are chosen by recommenda- tion from teachers on the basis of the applicant’s attitude and how well he applies himself in class. The club’8 activities are as follows: two scholarships given to graduating seniors, books to Kindergarteners at Christmas, fruit trays are given to retired teachers, teachers’ and members’ recreation nights, a Sweetheart ban- quet, a visit to a college campus and other educational trips, candy sales as fund raising ac- tivity, and special speakers at the monthly meetings. National Honor Society The members of National Honor Society are chosen on the basis of four qualities: scholarship, character, leadership, and service. Each year new members are chosen from grades 10 through 12. The NHS is involved in such ac- tivities as sponsoring an all-school talent show and helping to sponsor the Christmas Dance.
