The staff has used quotes throughout the year- book by one of the first naturalists and ecologists of America, Henry David Thor- eau. May his wisdom instill in us appreciation and gratitude for the wonders of nature which are all around us. To the members of the yearbook staff, keep up the fine work. We've had another wonderful year with much progress being made throughout the system. Mr. J. D. Maguffee PRINCIPAL This is the time of year we begin looking forward to May and relief from the daily routines of the past nine months. But after a few weeks of vacation we begin to look back at the school year completed and remember the new things learned, our friends and acquaintances and the good times we experienced. With these thoughts we realized the importance of school in our lives. The things we have learned, the friends we have made and the experiences we have had, all help make us the type of person we are and help us all to have a share in the future of our society. 72 Mr. Harwell Lambert ASSISTANT TO THE SUPERINTENDENT I would like to take this opportunity to say that I feel that the Arcad- ia Valley School District offers one of the best educational programs to some of the finest students that can be found anywhere. With the continued cooperation of students, faculty, and parents, we can continue this tradition of success in education. Mr. Jerry Milligan DIRECTOR VO-TECH The first year at the Area Vocational School has been very interesting. It has been in most ways a successful experience which means much to those who have been involved in this new kind of education. I would like to express my appreciation to the faculty and students who have worked hard to make this a good year. Thank you. 73 Mr. Bill Sheehy SCHOOL BOARD Dr. Robert F. Because I could not stop for death. He kindly stopped for me; The carriage held but just ourselves and Immortality. We slowly drove, he knew no haste, and I had put away My labor, and my leisure too, For his civility. We passed the school where children played Their lessons scarcely done; We passed the fields of gazing grain. We passed the setting sun. We paused before a house that seemed A swelling in the ground; The roof was scarcely visible, The cornice but a mound. Since then 'tis centuries but each Feels shorter than the day I first surmised the horses' heads Were toward eternity.
