V Jean Turner Terry Queen Jenna DeVore While being a cheerleader has its advantages, it can also bring problems. The problem of how to get a student body to have spirit when many students could care less is just one of the prob- lems faced by the leaders of the pep club. Leading the cheers this year have been these seven girls who have worked long and hard and have known the frustration of not always having a large group to help them encourage their teams on to victory. Along with our new school, let each student take a vow to have more school spirit next year. TIGER QUEEN TERRY QUEEN TIGER KING MIKE REINAGEL CARNIVALCORO ATioN Jeannie Fitts, Sophomore Queen Candidate, was crowned queen of the 43rd Halloween carnival. This year marked a new beginning for the carni- val. Gone were the games and booths and no longer was the queen selected on the basis of money. Jean- nie was the first queen selected upon the basis of the five contests: (1) Floats; (2) skits; (3) Work- days; (4) Queen’s talent; and (5) popular vote at the door. CHERIE LAMBERT Freshman'Queen Candidate .PAULA HAWKINS Senior Queen Candidate Freshman girls do their cheers. I wonder why there were 100% more cases of ptomaine poisoning? It sure is hard work building a mission. FRESHMAi The Freshman Class choa Cheri Lambert as their queen candidate. The boy’s skit was a takeoff on Gun- smoke and for her talent number Cherie did a Dance and Twirling rou- tine to the song, Rain- drops Keep Falling on My Head. For their workday the Freshman did odd jobs, held a car wash and a bake sale. ) I 1 Is it that bad, Gregg? The Sophomore class chose the best all around girl for their queen candidate by a clever take off on the academy awards which they called the Frankfruter award. This was judged the best skit. The Sophomores also earned the most money on the work day on their fish fry project. Their queen candidate, Jeannie Fitts, sang a medley of Peter, Paul and Mary songs for her talent number. Jeannie was also named carnival queen for 1970. •11 crow? JUNIOR Sock-A-hacbe Juniors make other classes eat Turkey. The senior's big cheese. Paula does her prize-winning talent number. Paula Hawkins, Senior queen candi- date swept first place in the talent division with an original reading in which she was the old school saying goodby to her stu- dents. The seniors sponsored a ham and beans dinner for their work-day. Paula was chosen as queen candidate in a skit based on the t.v. series, Bon- anza . SENIOR A DREAM COME TRUE . . For years it was supposed to happen. They promised it would. But who is they? Not until they became a moving spirit and voted for a new million dollar complex did the dream become reality. So to all who dreamed and worked to help the dream come true, we thank you. Hardships resulted-- Moving date was September 1-- then October 15-- then m mv i November 1-- Finally January 18. But in spite of strikes, delays, Tempers held and at long last we moved. While it was not done-- no gym, no industrial arts-- no music department-- It would all come to pass in due time-- and the wait would have all been worth it. In this new place let us have a new beginning. A desire to have more school spirit; no more worrying about the cow barn, let us also renew our efforts to become better scholars instead of just students, and renew our belief in the principles of American democracy where we have the right to dissent but not destroy, disagree but not argue, be against but not tear down and build a better school not just for today but for all the future members of our school. Here in this place we study? prepare? for the future and all the time we seek for the answers to Who am I? Where am I going? Where have I been? What will become of me? and finally find that th nswers are within ourselves which we must dig and probe to bring to the surface. Sometimes we are disappointed because the answers to our questions aren't there. We ponder- - are bewildered disillusioned. Our world is always changing and sometimes we resist the change because it is too painful. But with the pain comes the knowledge that this too is preparation for the future. And so as not to forget this painful process of growing, changing and developing which each of us must face-- We the annual staff of 1971 present this TIGER so that memories both good and bad will not be forgotten. Autographs
