Sophomore Class History Seventy-five eager Sophomores crammed into the crowded halls of I.H.S. September 4, 1950. At the first class meeting the following officers were elected: President............................Curtis Leach Vice-President.........................Frank Mack Secretary.......................... Shirley Howard Treasurer...........................Carolyn Gault Student Council.......................Wayne Smith Juanita Hardy Our candidate for carnival queen was Ann Talmage, a pretty brown-haired girl from Bellview. Although we placed fourth in the queen’s race, country store articles, and float race, we succeeded in taking second in ticket sales. The theme of our float was “Underneath the Arches”. It was all made of blue and white roses and Ann wore a blue and white formal. We are well represented in the A band. Eleven members are from the Sophomore Class. They are Bonnie Hardy, Ruth Jones, Rosalie Keith, Carol Dement, Shirley Howard, Betty Harland, Curtis Leach, Nellie Pollock, Mary Russell, Marion Ruble and Donna Denton. Representing us on the basketball B team are Pat Brunk, Bob Archambault, Frank Mack, and Richard Pruitt. In girls volleyball we have Ann Talmage and Dorothy Thomlinson. All in all, we have had a very successful year, but we hope to make 1951-52 even more successful. 27
