v Queen Anne Cottage Tucked away in the majestic stand of trees and front- ing on the serene lagoon stands the famous Queen Anne Cottage, built by Baldwin as a guest house. Designed by architect A. A. Bennett, who had also designed the State Capitol buildings in Sacramento, it was the last word in elegance with marble steps and dainty 'igingerbreadn ornaments and trimmings. lt was to become one of the showplaces of the rancho in which people from miles around were to take temporary residence as guests of the Baldwin family. And what of Baldwin, the fabulous rancho owner? He made his first big money from mining stocks. Head- ing West with his wife, Sarah Ann Unruh, and their daughter, Clara, he bought the rdncho and added 50,000 acres to his original purchase. He planted groves, vine- yards and trees, which he loved. Highlights of The years include, as sophomores, raising more money Than ever before for their class Treasury. As Juniors, They sponsored the beautiful prom Coral Isle and now, as Seniors, they have done many fine Things such as sponsoring The Homecoming Dance, honoring faculty members with a Teacher Appreciation Dinner and present- ing Time Out for Ginger. The year's activities are climaxed with Senior Week activities culminating in Commencement and The All Night Party.
