CLASS HISTUHY On November 10, 1936. a very timid group of freshmen met in the gym to surrender themselves to a class of revengeful sopho- mores. Led by our class ofhcers, Mike Haskell and Dorothy Drake, we were cruelly initi- ated with garlic and scabs. ln Our sophomore year we were avenged when we in turn initiated that year's new- comers. We were led then by Joe Decker and Beverly Norton. As Juniors, under the leadership of Joe Decker and Phyllis Frantz, we blossomed into activity. Our undertakings included the Junior Dance of November 4, and Silverno the Magician. Our last and crowning achieve- ment of that year was our gift to the Seniors, the Junior-Senior Banquet. Phyllis Frantz ably presided as toast mistress. As dignified and sophisticated Seniors, we chose as our class OHicers, Barbara Smith, Dorothy Drake, Barney Harrison, and Donald Clark. Activity this year included several dances which varied in financial suc- cess. Much effort was put into the successful presentation of our Senior Play Dictator Dad, graciously directed by Miss Harris. Our various activities of the last four years culminate in the publication of THE ARC. SENIUH PUPULAHITY EUNTEST Most Popular . Bert Looking . Most Intelligent . . MUSIC ' The music department under the direction of Mr. Gorruso has been an outstanding suc- cess in the past year. In addition to the band and chorus a junior band was formed affording an ex- cellent opportunity for the school's younger musicians. These organizations have pro- vided the entertainment for many school programs. The band, ensembles and soloists received high honors at Fredonia which enabled the band and several of the units to compete at state finals in Canandaigua. Ratings there entitled the trumpet trio, composed of u Robert Greatwood, Lewis Merrill, and Don- ald Hughtfs, the clarinet quartet, consisting of Janet Richie, joseph Decker, Jeanne Lewis and Patricia Holmes, and saxo- phonist, Robert Duguid to go to national Finals at Albany. All these musicians did very Well in competition with music students from several states and are eligible for similar contests next year. This exceptional season for music was climaxed in the presentation of the annual Spring Concert, a very splendid musical per- formance that everyone was privileged to enjoy. SPUHTS As usual, the Arcade Central School ath- letic teams under the direction of Coach Ryan have had a busy season.
