She teaches her third grade students by using patience and understanding. Mrs. Prickett has been selected as Arapaho Teacher of the Year for the last two years. It is these qualities that she has that give us great pride in dedicating the 1979-80 annual to her. tan Staff Officers: Lisa Beauchamp — Editor; Susan Muno — Assistant Editor; Kathy Car penter — Secretary; Leslie Carter — Treasurer. Whether school is a drag that ends promptly at 3:30 p.m. or a never end- ing challenge, it is a time to decide to make it or check it in. Struggling as a sophomore to achieve the undefinable future, beginning as a junior to realize the proximity of the goal, and realizing the attainabil- ity as seniors, AHS students make their future choices depending on what they believe is in reach. « C- Most will enter college, marriage, or the busi- ness world, and some will travel but all of these actions will have been influenced by teachers, friends, and the many years spent at Arapaho High School. A LITTLE FELLOW FOLLOWS ME A careful man I ought to be, A little fellow follows me. I do not dare to go astray For fear he'll go the self-same way. I cannot once escape his eyes. What'er he sees me do he tries. Like me he says he's going to be, The little chap who follows me. He thinks that I am good and fine Believes in every work of mine. The base in me he must not see, That little chap who follows me. I must remember as I go Thru summer's sun and winter's snow, I am building for the years to be In that little chap who follows me (Anonymous) (J aiu}(izrty His world is made up of many things. During school, if you look down the hall, you can usually see him wearing jeans and tennis shoes. After school, he's driving around town with some of his many friends. Sports is a crucial part of his life. Playing basketball is one of his favorite pastimes. His summers are filled with the endless chore of run- ning the farm while his family is gone on wheat har- vest. The 1980 Mr. A.H.S. is Jeff Daugherty, better known to his friends as Bolivar. Her whole world revolves around basketball. Many of her spare nights are spent at the gym shooting bas- kets or practicing her ball-handling drills. At times she's content just to sit and read, and other times she likes to go downtown and drive around with a friend. Her younger sister, Debbie, also plays an important role in her life. She's a quiet person and usually keeps to herself. The 1980 Miss A.H.S. is a very Special Lady ... Susan Radke. It was her sister. I heard her say, Toni, it's a boy, are you home? Not knowing what else to say, I accidentally invited myself over to her house, hoping we'd be alone. I wasn't exactly in the mood to spend the whole evening playing a sports game, so I started to get my act together. I remembered there was a good 99-cent special playing at the Redland. Clearing my throat, I made the offer. Toni Beauchamp, datee: So he finally called! I thought the boys had ball practice this evening. Maybe I was wrong, oh well... I was just playing with a new sports game. If you want to come over. I'll show it to you. I knew he wasn't too excited about that, but at least it would be something to do. Movie? Hmmm. I wasn't in much of a mood to watch a movie, but I'm always in the mood for some of that buttered popcorn and chewy candy. The excitement overtook me, and I hurriedly replied, Sure, when can we eat? Oh . . ah ... I mean, when can we see the movie? What luck .. she obviously had food on her mind, and I had only $2.1 suggested we go to this super place. It's really nice and clean. Besides that it is cheap! What's that Toni? The Rib Cage? Well not exactly, but... Boy he is smarter than I thought. The idea of an expensive dinner on the town was just what I had in mind Not the Rib Cage? Oh well, maybe you mean a Chinese dinner. that would be a great place fora romantic candlelight dinner... all alone with just you ... Gad, I had talked myself into a hole, $2, no driver's license and the idea that I v ould borrow money from my dad. I decided to change my approach, ankly Toni, I don't care ut fancy dinners. I just want to be alone with you. How about a walk? Blake! You devil, you. I bet you had that up your sleeve the whole time! Bov, some guys sure have to hand a girl a long line before they get dov n to business. It sounds wonderful Blake! Z[u±ia i. 1. Everyone enjoys their teacher, Mrs. Avants. 2.
