JoYo1-3: PIEPER RoNA RIESSEN t First Attendant Second Attendant Royalty Reigns At Homecoming Wendy Kroeger from rural Westside wears the 1967 Homecoming Queen Crown at Ar- We-Va. The brown-haired green-eyed senior was crowned October 6 at the Homecoming Assembly. Attending Wendy are Joyce Pieper, a five foot, blue-eyed senior from rural Vail, and Rona Riessen, 5'2 with eyes of blue, also a senior from rural Vail. The Homecoming activities got under way at 2:45 on October 6. The three candidates: Rona Riessen,, Joyce Pieper, and Wendy Kroeger, escorted by Jon Starek,Verle Peterson, and Dan Crane entered and took their places tothe right and left of thethrpne. They were preceded by the crownbearers, Gerald Thiedeman, Jr. and Shelly Stender. Jim Jentzen acted as Master of Ceremonies. First on the agenda was the Junior--Senior Skit. The boys enacted a scene f rom Coaches Coroner. This was followed by the guest speaker, Mr. Whitey Thompson from Ida Grove. Following Mr. Thompson was the Freshman--Sophomore skit: The Ar-We- Va players played a solo game of football accompanied by two cheers from the cheer- leaders and a parade made up of the queen candidates. Once again the MC took over, and finally read the schoo1's decision: Second Attendant, Rona Riessen, First Attendant, Joyce Pieperg and Queen, Wendy Kroeger. Dan C r ane , Wendy 'S escort, crowned her Queen and Mark Segebart presented her with the game ball and a dozen long-stemed red roses. From here the Cheerleaders took over with the Pep Rally. The day proved complete when the Rockets up-ended Charter Oak-Ute 21-0. The student body later danced to the music of the Kingpins. .
