Dramatizing Macbeth in Fr. Grescoviah's English class. ENGLISH Truth and Beauty in Words. From our earliest childhood we have heard and partially comprehended the English language, our mother tongue. It is probably tor this reason that otten the expressiveness and beauty ot our speech do not malce an impression on us. We employ these words every day ot our conscious lite in order to translate our teelings and opinions into thoughts which others will understand. We receive tour years ot English in order that we may be prepared to step out into the world with the ability to understand people, boolcs, newspapers, movies radio, television and the host ot other modern devices which continually lceep the English language betore our attention. Yet even these most practical ends are not the only ones achieved by the study ol English. For words also give us truth which we are constantly seelcing. The more we thinlc about it the more will we realize that those things which we otten talce tor granted are wondertully complex and in- tricate. Obviously such pertect complexity and order could only be the result ot an intinitely beautitul plan and design. lt is the purpose ot science to open the door behind which stands the plan ot God in great glory and maiesty. Thus the first aim ot the science course at Aquinas is to malce man more tamiliar with his Creator. Secondly, the study ot science, lilce all other studies has a practical purpose. Within a period ot tour years the student has the opportunity to come in contact with General Science, Biology, Physics and Chemise try, together with the time science clubs which operate in these tields. Although these sciences are tundamental in nature, they otten lead to a desire to comprehend more tully the operation ot the universe. Ultimately this desire leads a man to God, the Divine Planner who designed it in l lis Providence and keeps it in existence.
