-lun 5+ Q: 412. DONALD G. YECKEL PETER P. ROMEO JOHN A. PIETROPAOLI THOMAS P. MOONAN President Treasurer Secretary Vice-President SE IIIH ELI-155 UFFIIIEH5 One of the chief components of goodness is strength of mind and character. To a high school student, one of the means of acquiring this trait is the participation in the school student government. Under the executive leadership of the four Senior Class oflicers, Donald Yeclcel, Thomas Moonan, John Pietropaoli, and Peter Romeo, the Student Council of 1950-1951 at Aquinas Institute has attempted, to its utmost ability, to improve the daily life of the students by sponsoring dances, handl- ing various assemblies, and the addition of new conveniences for the students' benefit. ln addition, this school year has witnessed the opportunity of every student at Aquinas to voice his own opinion, concerning school life, ingenuously without fear of criticism or rebuttal. This has been accomplished by the election of homeroom representative members to the councils of their own class. Thereby, each homeroom member speaks his views to his representative, who presents the opinions to the class council, which in turn, offers its decision to the Student Council, composed, be- sides the Senior Class ofiicers, of four of the members of each class council. Thus, by student leadership and participation alone, our Student Council develops in every pupil a sense of true democratic government of the people, for the people, and by the people. STUDENT EUUNEIL Seated: Thomas Gutberlet, Thomas O'Keefe, Richard Cappon, Edward Schickler, William Gamble. Standing: Roy Engels, David Young, John Kinsky, Thomas Hart- zell, George Bryant, David McDonald, Thomas Tucker. 19
