eighteen OUR LIGHT AND OUR GUIDE UR FOUR YEARS at Aquinas haxe come and gone These years haxe passed so raprdly that rt ls hard for us to realrze that our careers here are ended We are happy at the thought of graduation but a nos talgrc twrnge comes ox er us as we consrder our reluctant turnrng from Aqumas for the last tlme For us Aqumas has been an encouragement whrch has carrred us through exery difficulty vshlch we haxe encountered a gurdmg light which unfarlmgly has shown us the way As we realrze that soon we shall no longer haxe the zealous instructors who hawe sacrrficed here to tram us we assure ourselxes that we shall newer lose sight of the myriad lessons whxch haxe been nmplanted ln our mmds and hearts Aqumas has lard the foundation and lt rs a sound foundation of hlgh ideals which haxe been engendered In our sprrlts by the dexout relrgrous vsho haxe labored incessantly for our betterment At thus pomt rn our lnes where exery rnpuence rs conduuxe to our mental and spiritual dewelopment vxhere every Impression leaves an mdellble mark on our mmds and builds as a foundation the mode of thought and actxon vshrch shall be ours throughout later lrfe where the foundation now lard determines our actlons actrons engendered by a Catholic education actions prompted by Cathollc pr1nc1ples We now moxe on to drfferent fields of 'work and to changrng mterests XVe feel conscrous of the fact that Aqumas has encouragmgly and wrllrngly burlt as a pyramrd the preparation which we shall utrlrze throughout our lives Aqumas has not failed she has provlded our background and she has taught us the ideals whrch shall be a safeguard and marnstay against the tide of all that IS evxl Wherexer the class of 38 shall roam we pray that these things whrch our Alma Mater has taught may always be the guiding light behind exers action and that not one of us shall ex er forget these important lessons Our days at Aqumas have not passed frurtlessly for we haxe adxanced mentally and sprrltually and as the doors close behlnd us we ask the Almrghtv Father to grant that these pr1nc1ples shall always remain with us As we make our places ln the world whether our lI1dlXld113l destrnles be great or not so great let us nexer forget the zealous men and vsomen who have labored so well for us to give us the right start We depart to make way for others who shall share srmrlar benefits that a school as magnammous as ours offers the benefits of a faculty as cooperatne and chantable as ours We make room so that others may share the benefits whrch we hase recened from a Catholrc educatron the sublime influence of a Catholic school and the rmpressne mstructron of Catholic teachers Aqumas has shown us the way May the greatness of the Sacred Heart of jesus gne us the strength to follow along the path that Aqumas has pomted out for us EDWARD H KLINGLER 'S f ' l ' 7 . .
