ll The Sanctuary is dark, But for a glowing light of red. And there it is that thoughts and And hopes and prayers are bred. For as creation is an art And life itself a grace, It pleases me to sit beside The Maker of our race. Close to the sacred vigil light In quiet awe I sit, ralia dreams Mystically, almost zveirdly, The God of H eav'n is there. And I am here beside Him And His love is everywhere. Nor need one word be uttered. Nor need a breath he spent, For understanding builds its bridge Of mental jirmament. I cannot sit beside my God And of thanks speak no word. And solitude surrounds the room, For even though no lips should ope And makes a tomb of it. My heartfelt thanks is heard. But for the burning candle The gratitude that fills my frame Which casts its flickers here. Is like unto a stream Peacefully quiet is this place, Which swells into a demon tide And tranquil and austere. To swamp the land, 'Twould seem But here I find a quiet hand To calm the rising tide. And as before, the waters, By the Maher's ivill, abide. This, not so humble, heart I have I prostrate 'neath Your eyes, To thank You for the blessing Of my earthly paradise. RIGHT REVEREND GEORGE A.
