Gala Weekend 1965 was the tenth of its kind and to celebrate the anniversary Co-chairmen Dan Radawski and Maureen Rice present a cake to alumni members George Krupp, chairman of the first week- end, and Jacob Robinson, originator of the name Gala. Ecumenism lives in the person of a Prot- estant monk, Brother Jacques Schiesser, who spoke to students and faculty on the purpose of his order, the unification of all Christians. He is a member of the Taize Order of France which is devoted to unification and whose rule is com- posed of a number of Christian rites in- cluding Catholic and Orthodox. The Russian-born Baroness Catherine deHueck Doherty, founder ofmany Friend- ship Houses and the Madonna House Apostolate, was presented the eighth annual Aquinas Award at a special cere- mony closing Honors Week in March. After the presentation, this vivacious Catholic woman spoke to all assembled, instilling in each deep respect as well as fervor for active Christian living.
