Many of us, during our childhood years, encountered the wonderful, whimsical tale of ALICE IN WONDERLAND. We regarded it as a fairytale to be read with much pleasure as a bedtime story, and we were captivated by the charm of Alice, the White Rabbit, and the wonderful Cheshire Cat. The members of the Polarion Staff believe that Alice is much too important to be dis- missed as only a childhood diversion. ALICE IN WONDERLAND is the story of a child going through various stages of life. She experiences feelings of awkwardness, clumsi- ness, and general out of place-ness. The story is told through Alice ' s eyes. There are no set rules. Emphasis is put on those things she feels ore important. Mervin the Magician states that the best always comes last. Thus the Senior section is no longer at the begin- ning. Administration and faculty are seen intermingled with the students, in classrooms and corridors. Candids are of a major importance since they show the real person not a posed one. Therefore, in this, the 1 970 Polarion, we as students at Apponequet have attempted to relate to Alice ' s adventures (and often times misadventures) in Wonderland. As you, the reader, explore the pages of our book along with Alice and the Class of ' 70, we hope that you will agree with us.

Stupid things! Alice began in a loud indig- nant voice; but she stopped herself hastily, for the White Rabbit cried out Silence in the court! and the King put on his spectacles and looked anxiously around, to make out who was talking. . . . and now our principal, Mr. Duseault, respected and loved by all, though also very human. As he can sometimes be seen — getting himself in a stew — beef stew, that is. Mr. Simas, the V.P., is easily approached when you have a problem. Please! He can often be seen lis- tening patiently . . .
