Because they brought such great glory to our school, we think it only fitting that we dedicate the 1956 Clarion to them. Our team was just another team until the qualifying rounds for the State Tournament. Suddenly they caught fire, winning the regional and the sectional and becoming the first A.H.S. team to go to State in,thirty years. They kept up this furious pace, losing only in the finals. Their drive and excellent sports- 'ik Q manship earned for them second place in the state of Wisconsin and first place YQ, in the hearts of all Appleton. Mann, superintendent of schools. Capable assistance in solving the complex issues that confront the schools is rendered by the Board of Education. The responsibility of running the high school rests in the experienced hands of Mr. Herbert Helble, principal. He is constantly presented with problems large and small, and disposes of all of them with equal vigor, inspiring faculty and stu- MR. HERBERT H. Mr. Werner Witte, assistant principal, is also to be credited with the fine administration and prog- ress of the school. Acting as dean of boys, man- aging the athletic department, and teaching in the social science department comprise his many duties.
