Q, ' 2 Q'll Robert Sonkow skv Ellen Connellv Elks Citizenship Award Having obtained thc highest grade in both the written and oral examinations on the Con Flag Raisers As the school term gets under way each year, the senior class has the task of selecting two prominent senior class members as flag raisers. This honor involves the responsibility of raising and lower- ing the flag every morning and evening. This year because of their good conduct, character, and citizenship, Robert Sonkowsky and Ellen Connelly Were chosen. Besides keeping a very high scholastic rating throughout his high school years, Bob has been very active in Latin Club, Student Council, track and football. Ellen, too, has had a high standing in her class and has participated in many extra- curricular actix ities particularly Curtain Call Acting Librarv Staff and the Student Council Both attended Badger State in their lunior years Elks Scholarship Award stitution of the United States Robert Bethke Robert Bethke was rewarded with the Flks Citizenship Award This honor includes S100 as well as an opportunity to participate in the state con test Bob has been active in athletics namely football track and the Tumbling Club and intramural athletics He has also serxed as a member of the Student Council and has par ticipated in forensics For his outstanding scholarship participa tion in extra curriculars and sersice to the school the Elks Club of Appleton presents annually a scholarship to this worthy senior boy who plans to attend Lawrence College Carl Stumpf IS this years winner Carl has done extraordinary work m basketball foot ball track and was a member of an intramural champion team in his sophomore year Carl Stumpf Marx Intramural Awards Because of her fine work in Intramurals her support of the G A A and noon hour teams and her practice of good sportsmanship Bettv Werner was given the Girls Intramurals Ath letic Award During her three years at Apple ton High School Betty has been an enthusias tic member of the Bowling Club she serx ed as vice president and secretarv treasurer ofG A A She was also a participant in the Radio Players and Tumbling Club Floyd Michael Syrmg was presented this year with the Boys Marx Intramural Athletic Award Floyd has been verv actixe in all the sports offered at Appleton Senior High School but he has been particularlv fond ot basketball Page 10 affix: an 'aa Floyd Svring Betty Werner , . ,. .
