From the l.atin Grammar School to the academy to the free high school as We lcnovv it today, the story of secondary education is one oi constant adaptation to changing needs. The adap- tation must be continuous and accelerated if the secondary school is to l4eep abreast ol a social scene changing with increasing rapidity and to play any significant pioneering part at the outpost of human needs.
