Rule Cannon Kokke Ehlke Senior Class Congratulations to you, class of ' 33, for the line spirit with which you have com- pleted your high school days during these abnormal years. liven though hampered by these precarious times, you have suc- cessfully risen far beyond the expecta- tions of your advisors. You have thoughtfully set a fine example by your hne scholastic standing, your athletics, and your extra-curricular activities. But we must not be misled by making paramount our small successes, for they are often overshadowed and trampled upon by lifes many trials and tribula- tions. We must remember, especially in these days of economical and political deflation, that a high school education is of inestimable value. But even the high school graduate is imperfectly tempered, and it remains for the rest of the world to further develop his character and ability, to discover and perfect his talents, and to force his peculiar mannerisms and im- perfections into inhnity. Not only have you excelled in scholas- tic ratings, but also you have not been surpassed in journalism, declamatory, oratory, extemporaneous, musical, and athletic activities. Your musicians, speakers, athletes, and students have successfully and triumphantly competed against older and more experienced competition. , As we near the end of our school years, as the scholastic machinery of our Alma Mater slows down and approaches a standstill, we look back upon our short- comings and should like to pass on a few words to our underclassmen and sincerely hope that they may and will profit by our mistakes and mount to unprece- dented heights. We, the seniors, will travel our respec- tive ways, some to higher institutions, others to face a world of distress, but wherever the course of life leads us, may we never disgrace Appleton High School. ROBERT RULE, President. Page 1 5
