Nor is it simple, easy toil to mold and teach these lusty youths to wield battle axe and lance, to play at tourney and at jousts. lfor 'tis only a lad, be he from sheep cot or king's hall, ol' strong, nohle, and skilled nature who can carry out vows of utter hardihood and ohedience, As the pupil springs from ensign to page, to squire and then to knight his wisdom and skill are increased manifold as is the pride ol his instructor in work well done.
