A sense of justice. 2. The power of initiative. 3. Independence of character. 4. Correct civic and social habits. 5. The ability to cooperate toivard the common good. — Dr. Frank Crane. With this as the goal it can be under- stood why our school has made such rapid progression. Feeling that the stu- dents would like to know more of this, since they are vitally concerned in it. the 1937 Rhododhndron has chosen lor its theme the presenting of the stages in this development.

We, the Senior Class of Appalachian State Teachers College, luish to show by the dedication of the annual, our appreciation to you who has helped us to such a great extent during the past four years. Not only have you been our teacher but also our entertainer. In years to come many of us shall know how to operate the spectroscope or know the difference between the rhomboideus and the supraspinatus muscles because of your excellent instruction. All of us shall remember The Import- ance of Being Earnest. The Impatience of Job. and Gammer Gur ton ' s Needle. Few are as versatile. Even in your hobbies you have gone farther than many professionals in similar fields. Al- though these are only a few things which you have done, these alone are enough for us to know that we want to dedicate the 1937 Rhododendron to you, Professor Antonakos.
