The Fountain At Our The Seniors Bless the Chorus Senior Spooks Junior-Senior With Their Presence Class History As typical freshmen, we considered ourselves quite grown-up. We were very proud of our large enrollment of 125. We spent most of our time getting acquainted with the rules and regulations. Our boys learned the hard way at Tate's Casino. We raised our first bit of money toward our Junior-Senior dance selling Christmas cards. We had a spooky House of Horrors at the Halloween Carnival and by far the best float in the homecoming parade. We selected David McKinney as president of our outstanding class, JoeMiller, vice-president; Rebecca Edmisten, secretary-treasurer; and Betty Swaim, reporter. We entered our sophomore year with the feeling we were at last nearing the upperclassman bracket. The following served as officers: David McKinney, president; Joe Miller, vice-president; Rebecca Edmisten, secretary-treasurer; and Donna Welborn, reporter. We sponsored one of the nicest dances of the year, the Valentine dance. Betty Swaim was crowned queen. Twirp Season came around and we sponsored an informal dance. The football team, consisting of quite a few sophomores, had an undefeated season. Our junior year the school was more or less turned over to us. We sponsored the Halloween Carnival and made profits galore. Projects were headed by Betty Swaim, president; JoAnne Hardin, vice-president; Bobby Reynolds, secretary; Paul Perry, treasurer; and Bill Gragg, reporter. The highlight of the year, alavish extravaganza, was Springtime, our Junior-Senior dance. Music was furnished by the Rhythm and Swing Band. Patsy Hollingsworth, Nancy Hollingsworth, Bobby Reynolds, Joe Miller, Bill Gragg, and Peggy Greer were selected by the senior class as junior marshals . Thirteen students were inducted into the National Honor Society. They were Jack Creed, Mary Hodges, Jane Snyder, Hazel Townsend, Bobby Reynolds, Everett Lowman, Sue Fletcher, Nancy Hollingsworth, Bill Gragg, Paul Perry, Bill Williams,

It's Springtime Decorating For Our Valentine Dance JoAnne Hardin and Betty Swaim. The annual student-body president election was held in the spring and Bobby Reynolds, Wendell Critcher, Bobby Wilcox, Bill Gragg and Betty Swaim were the nominees. Betty Swaim was elected by popular voteof the student body. Bobby Watkins and Nancy Hollingsworth were placed on the All-Tour- nament basketball team. Our senior year the following were selected as officers: Bobby Reynolds, president; Johnny Hodges, vice-president; Jane Snyder, secretary; JoAnne Hardin, treasurer; and Joyce Miller, reporter. Joe Miller and Bobby Reynolds were selected as wrestling captains. Bill Gragg and Sue Fletcher served as co-editors of the Highlife. Johnny Hodges was our homecoming king. Joyce Littleton was the Halloween queen, and Joe Miller was elected Christmas king. Bobby Wilcox and John Hodges were our football captains, and Bobby Watkins and Bobby Wilcox were our basketball captains. Mary Mast and Bonnie Foster were co-captains for the girls’ basketball team. JoAnne Hardin and Betty Swaim were co-editors of the Laurel. Sheila Gilley and Nancy Hollingsworth placed second in county-wide essay andspeech contests. A beautiful Christmas dance was held in the gym and the seniors had lots of fun sponsoring it. All the seniors would like to thank the junior class for giving us a beautiful Junior-Senior dance. It certainly seemed that fun was had by all. One highlight of the year was our trip to Washington. The memories of the trip will probably last in our minds longer than any other event in our high school careers. The most important step was taken inthe latter part of May, graduation. We, the senior class owe much to the teachers of A. H. S. We feel especially close to our homeroom teachers, who, through the years, have helped us in many ways. Although many of them are gone now, we still want to say thanks for all they have done. Our homeroom teachers have been Mrs. Hardy, Miss Huneycutt, Mr. Templeton, Miss Prothman, Mr. Gabriel, Mr. Isenhour, Mr. Hadden, Miss Akers, Mrs. Nash, Mr. Snyder, and Mr. Jolley.
