Maurice Templeton is still the playboy he always was. Arlene Mast, famed platinum blonde, is to play the title role in the Life of Jean Harlow and Joan Phillips has joined the Metropolitan Opera Company. Alma Teague's torch songs are the talk of Broadway. Archie Lyons is traveling with a circus now as champion weight lifter. Nettie Lou Rogers is now a model for Lava Soap advertisements. Her complexion was always pretty but now it's really paying off. H. M. Moretz has a little business down Florida way and she really keeps him busy. Elsie Nichols is fashion editor for the Bamboo bazaar, a leading fashion magazine. A few who are on her staff that we know are Annie Lee Carlton, Mary Frances Cook, Kate Vannoy and Nell Johnson. Eston Moretz, who is acclaimed as the rugged but romatic type, has taken Gregory Peck's place in Hollywood. Bill McNeil is also in Hollywood. He's a song and dance man. Mary Colvard has settled down with her trombone player, who goes around the house crooning A Chapter in My Life Called Mary. Kenneth Green has taken Vern Green's place as chief of police and for the first time in the history of Boone, there are two women policemen, Catherine Northern and Louella Critcher. We notice that Fred Micheal is a frequent caller on Kenneth's place of business. Beatrice Townsend is now an internationally known night club dancer. Nancy Shull is back at A. H. S. teaching girls Physical Education and coaching basketball and do the girls love her as a teacher! Betty Winebarger and Dora Moretz married millionairesso we don't see much of them anymore as they spend their winters in Florida and that is all Boone has. Billie Miller is society editor for the Watauga Democrat and we notice that Katheryn Benson and Bina Triplett are alwayseither giving parties or attending them. Oh, to be a socialite! Pearl Proffitt and Edith Stamey have become missionaries and the last we heard of them, they were plunging farther into darkest Africa. Olive Profitt is now a woman Senator and she has a bill up which will cut the present school term in half. That's our buddy! Barbara Bingham, that cute little cheerleader who loved French so well, is now a model in Paris. Bobby McConnell retired when he finished high school and now devotes all his time to fishing and loafing. That's the life! Glenn Wilcox is now in charge of the bus terminal and he spends all his spare time with his very cute wife Polly and their ten young'uns. Last we mention our most unfortunate classmate. Our old pal, Roy Wood, who was never a Casanova in his youth, certainly made up for it when he got older. Now the poor fellow is being sued by his two wives, Pat Aldridge and Patsy McGuire for lack of support and he is being persecuted by the state for bigamy.

prophecy Well, well, it's nice ever so often to take a glimpse into the future and just see what will have happened to all your old high school friends. It's fun to see if they are all what you thought they would turn out to be and to see all the things they have done since your high days at good ole A. H. S. In our glimpse into the future one of the girls that first meets our eye is Betty Barnes. She still has that same sparkling personality we liked her for in the good old days and she is one of the most popular young matrons in Boone. Johnny Barnett, one of our most popular old buddies, is playing pro ball and is still a bachelor, of course. Jane Benfield, from Blowing Rock, who joined us in her senior year has taken Frankie's place as secretary at the high school. John J. Bingham is still making heart's palpitate just like he did when he came from Cove Creek to Boone his senior year, only now he is considered one of the world's greatest lovers. Oh, Johnny! Mack Elrod is the football coach at the high school and he is doing an excellent job. Bill Blackburn is the same sweet guy he was back in our school days and as coach of our basketball team, he is helping our school to attain greater glory. Aretta Cook, who is as sweet and thoughtful as ever, is now in charge of the A. H.S. lunchroom and Franklin Cook, who was never especially fond of Government Economics has become an authority on the subject and has taken Mr. Beaty's place on the faculty. Newell Carroll and Gerry Hollars are Mr. and Mrs. now and a cuter couple you've never seen. Marie Carroll and James Coffey are another cute couple who have tied the knot. Helen Bowles is now employed by Sears and Roebuck as chief buyer and is considered a very successful young business woman. Shirley Watson has turned into a very glamorous young secretary and is prettier than ever. Jo Ann Critcher and Shirley Cook are still some heart-breakers, only more so. Isabel Eggers is now a famous novelist. Her latest book was a Book-of-the Month Club selection. Nancy Elrod has replaced Miss Hampton on the faculty as she is now teaching Spanish to some unfortunate high school students who thought they were getting a crip course. FLASH: One of our former classmates, Jo Ann Hardin, who is acclaimed as an orator has gained even greater honor and fame by being elected the first woman President of the United States. Jimmy Harrison and Jo Houser are working now in commercial advertising. As two of the most promising young artists with the Arby Art and Advertising Co. they are expected to travel far in their work. Gordon Hartzog has set the world's speed record for auto- mobiles. He drove a Dodge, of course. The Gallop Poll reports that Dale Hodges is the most popular new-comer in Hollywood. Patty Hodges is now a quiet, reserved young married woman. Not quite the same Patty we used to know, is she? Tommy Hodges is playing professional football along with Ernest Lyons and James Wilcox. Charles Ransom hds married a little south- ern belleand has settled down in the leisurely old south. Worth Miller is still working himself to death doing nothing. Eleanor Geer has had hundreds of babies! Not her own, of course but now she is a world famous obstetrician.
