The Appalachian Bible Institute, nestled in the rugged tree- covered Appalachian mountains, could well be likened to a tree--ever growing, extending its branches upward and outward, increasing its following to the end that it may bring forth an annual increase. ...Planted... It was in 1950 that the seed-thought of a Bible institute in these hills germinated. A small staff of gardeners nurtured the tender seedling and the Lord blessed and prospered its growth. Others became interested and pre- pared a new garden spot. In 1955 ABI, still as a tender tree, was transplanted to its present location. By the waters... The lake and lagoons of ABI's campus would remind us that a tree requires water for growth. Jesus Christ, the Water of Life, is the abundant source of our supply. To Him we give thanks for the supply of additional faculty, staff, and facilities through the years. Never has He failed to provide every need. ...That bringeth forth his fruit in his season... The graduating classes each year might be likened to fruit brought forth in his season. As a seed must mature on the mother tree before it is capable of producing life and fruit, so the years of educa- tion at ABI are necessary in preparing students to go forth with the message of salva- tion that will produce more fruit. As the winds scatter the seeds, so the Holy Spirit leads graduates to the uttermost parts of the world to labor and establish new works for Him. ...Its leaf also shall not wither... The leaves of a healthy tree constantly drawing from its supply of food and water will be beautifully green. As the Lord Iesus con- tinues to be honored and exalted and His Word retains its rightful place, there will be'no withering of spiritual growth at ABI. Faith will remain strong--continued growth will be seen. H ...And whatsoever He doeth shall prosper... Until Jesus comes again let us continue ...steadfast, unrnovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord. GOD GRANT EACH TI-IE DESIRE TO BE A BEAUTIFUL PART OF THIS GROWING TREE, A WORKMAN THAT NEEDETH NOT TO BEASHAMED, RIGHTLY DIVIDING THE WORD OF TRUTH. LET THE BEAUTY OF HOLINESS BE SEEN IN EACH OF OUR LIVES AND KEEP US FAITHFUL, IN BRINGING FORTH MUCH FRUIT ...TO THE PRAISE OF HIS GLORY....
