Now, we do not realize that we are wishing to leave our loved ones and most cherished places because of these ambitious thoughts. Only after we have moved on into the future are we able to understand that yesterday was the best time of our lives. JAMES RIGGS Mr. Joseph Rose, who was again principal of Appalachia High Sc hool during 1974-75, earned his Bachelor of Science Degree at East Tennessee State University and his Masters Degree at Virginia Poly¬ technic Institute. Although Mr. Rose had a brief ill¬ ness during the first semester, he came back strong with the will-power to make life at A. H. S. better than ever before. With the help of Assistant Princi¬ pal, Mr. James Riggs, he lifted morale when it was needed with a warm smile. Meetings were held and films were shown so that this book could be the best yet. We want to thank Mrs. Dorothy Gwaldis, our sponsor, for guiding us in the right directions by telling us what was right and what was wrong. It was great to know that we were capturing a por¬ tion of time to be held by everyone even though it was time consuming. The paper came out regularly in an up-to-date style like an ordinary newspaper. The editors were Charles Jervis and Boyd Lewis. Their work was rewarded with each issue because of their per¬ sonal touches such as a gorilla drawn to fit Mrs. Murphy ' s head. Thanks to Mrs. Bradshaw for her 4Q guidance. Both had a swell time attending Girls’ State and believe that it is some¬ thing that every girl should attend. They also, agree that it was a great time in their lives. It was held at Lynchburgh, Virginia, at which they had a lot of fun par¬ ticipating in the daily routines and sharing jokes with the other guys. As Rosemarie Kee- see was crowned Homecoming Queen of 1975, the stands roared. With the help of Mrs, Brooks ' ingenious ideas the Homecoming float was more beautiful than ever before. Then, when the Bulldogs won, the game, it was just too much. Last but not least, the evening was fulfilled because of the parade through town. Thanks from the students of Appy.
