In order for a varsity sport to be a success, the J.V. program must have the winning tradition. At Apollo, the J.V. baseball team has worked as hard as the arsity and, under Coach Ray Alon o, the team has prospered much the same as the varsity. The Hawks work hard all during the season, stressing condi- tioning, weight-training, endurance, and dieting in order to prepare themsehes for the varsity season of next year.

Baseball is extremely difficult to play on the high school level, especially in Arizona. At Apollo, the fresh- men baseball players have always come into the season know- ing what it will take to move up in levels of competition. These goals have to be heightened that much more because of the winning tradition of baseball at Apollo. The Hawks work hard and condition themselves for the years to come. 235
