Pearson Main Propulsion Assistant Bass River, MA The Engineering Department is comprised of four officers and forty enlisted men from several ratings and is responsibile for mobility and auxiliary systems in support of the ship ' s mission. The divisional makeup of the department includes: El Division. Gas Turbine Systems Technicians Electrical (GSE) and Gas Turbine Systems Technicians Mechanical (GSM ) personnel, who are responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Propulsion Equipment and its Control Systems. E-2 Division is comprised of Electrician Mates (EM) and Enginemen (EN) personnel who are responsible for providing electrical power throughout the ship as well as refrigeration, air conditioning, high and low pressure air and other services. E-3 Division personnel include the Hull Technicians (HT) and the ship ' s Machinery Repairmen (MR). Their responsibilities include the maintenance and repair of the ship ' s hull and fittings. They also have the capability of fabricating, cutting and welding, as necessary, to repair damage to the ship. In addition, the ship ' s Machinery Repairmen can manufacture from stock, various components of the ship ' s machinery and systems. 53
