Apaches Close Out Season With Six Coach Meyer shouts instructions from the bench. The Apaches closed out their season with six consecutive vic- tories. The warriors overcame a halftime deficit of 7 points to pull out a victory over Peacock. Then, the braves hatched out a victory against a strong Shertz Cibolo team. Edgewood, a strong member of the AAAA district, fell victim to the Apache rampage, as the warriors pulled off a 40-38 upset when Al Hawkins sank the winning basket with only seconds showing on the clock. The fired up Apaches then raced to a comfortable 32-17 halftime lead against Southwest, and coast- ed to a 48-43 victory. However, the Apaches had to shake off a cold shooting hand to nip the upset minded St. Gerard Royals, 45-43. This set the stage for the season finale. Playing before a full house on their home court, the Apaches put on an amazing display of power by crushing the St. Gerard Roy- als, 62-4O.
