Mark Wienties goes high in the air to get this tip in the Holy Cross game. Apaches Get Tough The Antonian Apaches proved to be a thorn in The side of many powerful Alamo City teams. The first AAAA team to fall to the Apaches was Churchill. The Tribe tromped over Churchill, be- fore a standing room only crowd, 49-43. Wheat- ley, co-champs of The T5 AAA district, had Their share of Troubles with The Apaches. The Lions had to fight off a determined Apache rally be- fore coming out with a 51-50 victory. The Tribe made their presence felt in the San Antonio Invi- tational Tournament. The upset minded Apaches pulled off a surprising victory over a strong Mc- Collum team in the first round of the tourney. Many were surprised to see such strength in a new ball club. MacArthur brought an abrupt halt to the winning ways of the Apaches in the quar- ter final game, besting the Apaches 54-42. Robert G. Cole, a team which finished fourth in the state, also had a tough time against the stubborn Apaches. With this overall strength and desire, and all lettermen returning, the Apaches pose a threat to capture the T.C.l.L. crown next year!
