Seniors ano uniori in Arriving in Washington five hours after schedule—registering at the hotel, finding our rooms, making a quick change to get supper before all the places closed—arising at 5:30 each morning to begin our tours—the surprisingly large number of historical paintings in the capitol, the story behind each—visiting Glen Echo, an amusement park somewhat like a carnival—ganging up on Mr. and Mrs. Evans in the bump cars—riding the merry-go-round and the roller coaster at the park—the 3(T mile ride in the trolley cars—seeing far and wide from the top of the Washington Monument, some of the crazy one’s walking and running down the 898 steps—realizing how impossible it would be to see everything on exhibit in the Smithsoniin Institute—the huge skeletons of pre-historical animals in the National Museum—the large and, to us, very nearly complete zoo where we saw many animals we had read about and seen pictures of—the moonlight ride on the Potomac River —seeing the beautiful carvings and individual chapels in the National Cathedral—going out to Mount Vernon, George Washington’s home—enjoying sliding on the beautiful marble floors (more than the art) in the National Art Gallery—visiting Senator Olin D. Johnston and having our picture made with him on the steps of the capitol-riding the sub-way cars underground from the capitol to the senate office building—getting stuck in an over-loaded elevator for 30 minutes—boys taking in major league ball game and the girls wooing over Guy Mitchell—the almost unbelievable designs created by nature in the Luray Caverns: fried eggs, turkish towel, Virginia ham, organ, and many other formations—realizing that we were 66 feet underground—sighteeing along the Sky Line Drive —more bus trouble—spending the night in Danville, Virginia—Homeward. A Harvest Carnival was sponsored in the fall and proved very successful. The money that was raised was used for the various activities and needed articles around the school. A revised constitution helped to promote the aim of the council — a closer feeling between faculty and students in a more scholarly and friendly atmos- phere. Faculty Sponsor
