SOPHOMORES As sophs, we returned to school this year after a summer of excitement to continue in high school studies and activities. We re- mained in a daze for the first week or so of classes, but then buckled down and were on the road to distinction. Under the guid- ance of Jeannine Ilowle, president; Carolyn James, vice-president; Margery Hinton, secre- tary; we put our “best foot forward.” By the end of our second high school year, the class of ’55 promises to be a most out- standing class. The new school year began with a bang for the freshmen. Because it was our first year in high school and we would begin to participate in high school activities soon, we were eager to get started. Of course there came the J.H.A. and F.F.A. initiations which were dreaded but were both taken for fun in the end. Although future accomplishments of the freshmen class are not yet known, we have made our debut into a new type of world — a world in which we hope to achieve as much as its past citizens. We for the first time absorbed the spirit and enthusiasm of our school and took her into our hearts as our alma mater. Page Twenty-Four
