fluniols Cine) {yeniols dn WasLinejtcn Our humorous and well-informed guide...eating supper at the Blue Lagoon Night Club... the surprisingly large number of historical paintings in the Capitol, the story behind each... having to pass the White House without going in, repairs being made inside...visiting Glen Echo, an amusement park somewhat like a carnival...Dicky and Richard enjoying a swim there...riding the merry-go-round and roller coaster at the Park...seeing far and wide from the top of the Washington Monument.. .Billy, Bobby Earl, and MeLaureen walking down the steps of the monument...learning how dead bodies are cremated at the city morgue ...realizing how impossible it would be to see everything on exhibit in the Smithsonian In- stitute...the huge skeletons of prehistoric animals in the National Museum...children swim- ming in the pool of the fountain before the Congressional Library...the large and, to us, very nearly complete zoo where we saw many animals we’d read about and seen pictures of...being carried over the newest type train by the conductor at the Washington Terminal... the moonlight ride on the Potomac River...seeing the beautiful carving and individual chapels of the National Cathedral...going out to Mount Vernon, George Washington’s home... the almost unbelievable designs created by nature in the Luray Caverns—fried eggs, Tur- kish towel, Virginia Ham, organ, and many other formations...realizing that we were sixty- six feet under ground...sightseeing along the Skyline Drive...Homeward.
