GAA sponsors mother-daughter awards picnic GAA proved popular this year, as 120 girls joined the group. They rnet after school on Thursdays to play volleyball, basketball, gym- nastics, etc., depending upon the season. The girls held bake sales during varsity basketball games, and sponsored a balloon dart throw at the Student Council Carnival. FFA has large ..., membership The FFA has an enrollment of 96 members, both boys and girls. They meet twice a month, holding a business meeting with recreation afterwards. The FFA Banquet this spring was the largest ever with 250 people attending. FFA members received awards for their work during the year. FFA members competed in various contests during the year. Public Speaking, Parliamentary Procedure, Livestock, Q Kg Poultry and Meat judging were the most popular. Students attended officer training school and the State Con- vention. About 1!3 of the membership attends Ohio FFA Camp Muskingam during the summer. The camp provides experiences in conservation, recreation, safety, and leadership to the members who attend. 4 4 MIKE PEDERSON Young A.W. Quiz Kids rank in +op eighi With none of last year's runner-up team return- ing, a young, inexperienced team consisting of sen- ior Phil Taber, juniors Kelly Cichy, Rob Slee, and Liz Zempel, and sophomore Mike Pederson buzzed their way into the top eight of thirty-six teams in the WSPD High School Quiz. They Won their first match against Wauseon High School 170-150. Rogers High School was their next opponent whom they also defeated 250-120. In a match plagued by technical difficulties from a burnt out studio light to untimely breaks as pro- grams changed on the half hour, the team was defeated on a tie-breaker question by St. Ursula. With four of this year's five members returning and the experience they gained, the coach, Mrs. Peterson, looks forward to next year's competition. Quiz Bowl 121 -
