redhmen Sixty-four capable Seamen Recruits boarded Pirate Ship A. H. S. on September 7, 1948, for a long-anticipated adventure. Higher officers, from Seamen First Class to Admirals, initiated them for their first voyage with such stunts as the one pictured at the right. The challenging buccaneers weighed anchor on a voyage which included not only academic studies, but also such activities as Hi-Y, Y-Teens, athletics, dramatics, and music. While the Seamen Recruits feel that their first voyage on the good ship A. H. S. has been one of struggle, the voyage has also been one of accomplishments.
