Slave Sale Freshmen Introduced to A. U. H. S. The Slave Sale this year was a slight disappointment because no initiation took place. Despite this disappointment the seniors still made $534 profit. The top selling slaves were Ruben Rivas and Kim Wright. Chuckie Emmons bought Ruben for $29. and Terrie Lambert bought Kim for $27. 1. Slave Sale auctioneer, Eugene Burgett, looking for the highest bidder. 2. Slave Sylvia Perez-Arce wiggles while slave driver Johnny Quiroz watches with interest. 3. Slave driver Freddy Curiel makes sure freshman Jose Rivas sings the fight song correctly. 6 Slave Sale

1. Desert Sands Sophomores Win Each year the Desert Sands Contest is held to help promote yearbook sales. The class who buys the most yearbooks wins the contest. A girl and boy are chosen from each class as representatives and the couple from the class who buys the most yearbooks become Desert Sands King and Queen. This year the Sophomores won the contest by buying 35 yearbooks. The Juniors were second with 21 yearbooks; the Freshmen with 20 came in third, and the Seniors came in last with 19. 1. Juniors Debbie Robinson and Tim Wheeler came in second. 2. Sylvia Perez-Arce and Dave Perez, representing the Freshmen class, came in third. 3. In fourth place are the Senior representatives. They are Johnny Quiroz and Dixie Ordonez. 4. This years Desert Sands King and Queen—Julie Quiroz and Bemie Figueroa. Desert Sands 7
