It is people, the ones who attend it, run it, and create its traditions. It is to these people, the stu- dents, alumni, faculty and administration that we proudly dedicate this yearbook. The following day ini- tiation was held and the incoming freshmen were O formally initiated into Antelope Union High School. The initiation ceremony included banana-feeding, pie-eating, and a lot of fun for both the freshmen v and those who watched. 6 People—People—People 7 In February, members of the Junior class presented the play, The Stuck Pot, a delightful three-act comedy centered around the social antics of ado- lescent students attending two exclusive private high schools. In the opening scenes, the boys from Jason School scheduled an upcoming dance between their school and the girls from Worthington Women's Academy. To compensate the Jason student who got stuck with the least attractive Worthington girl, the boys decided to award a pot of Money (a stuck pot ). When the Worthington girls learned of this social outrage, they decided to respond in kind and have a stuck pot of their own. From this point on, the play provided one chuckle after another, rewarding the two-night audiences with a thoroughly entertaining evening and the occasion to witness some outstanding acting per- formances by a number of Antelope students thor- oughly enjoying their thespian roles. Two activity filled days took us back to the age of the Golden West. Among numerous contests there were: a quick draw race, a sack race, and a dance con- test. Everyone had fun adding to the affair by dressing like cowboys and cowgirls. Yee-ha! Going along with the excitement was a good 'ole west- ern dance at which the best western dressed boy and girl were announced. Taking those honors were Doug Rider and Debbie Byestewa. Hundreds of fans turned out to watch the game and the half-time coro- nation ceremony. The ceremony began with the introduction of the queen's attendants by Master of Ceremonies Gary Brockman. Representing the freshman class was Bonnie Shute, escorted by Mike Jorajuria. The sophomore attendant was Sharon Be us who was escorted by Doug Banks. Barbara Greenough, escorted by Matt Burris, represented the junior class. Representing the seniors was Louise Woods (BELOW RIGHT), who was escorted by Dean Barrett. The cafeteria was magically transformed into a setting such as would be found in the old Elizabethan writer's most colorful and romantic fantasy. The scene was entered through a giant hollow tree draped with vines. Once through it, you found yourself in the midst of a large clearing in a fairyland forest. The stars shown in the deep blue sky above and around you. An immense blue mush- room was growing on the top of a small hill. Dew drops dripped off of it into a huge pink flower. Giant bees, butterflies, and lady bugs hovered in the air about you, and sprites flitted from table to table, sup- plying you with food and drink. Music was provided by the Mixed Breed. The cover of this book shows a distant sun over a wheat field. In order that the grad- uating seniors may keep their ideal in mind each time they look back upon this collection of memories, the cover of this yearbook is dedicated to them.
