But the person holding that grade book or writing on the blackboard does have a life outside of school. Teachers do not wait with bated breath for Monday mornings nor do they feel disappointment on “snow days.” If anything, they look forward to “TGIF,” Thank God it’s Friday, with more zeal than the students. They do not enjoy grading papers, dealing out “FY or giving students a hard time. Teachers want, very much, for their stu- dents to succeed, to do well. Teachers do the best they know how and it’s time we appreciated their efforts. 5 6 7 1. MR. FOSTER: Vocational English 9. 10. II. Terminal English 12, Speech and Drama. DAY With one more day to live, and only one I wonder what great task I’d work upon. Granted full strength for those fast fleeting hours I wonder w hat deeds I’d spend rm [sowers. The fancy comes that I should run to see The countless friends w ho have been kind to me. And I should pause, the w hile I rushed along To beg another's pardon for some wrong. I’d have no vain illusions then for fame. I'd see how cheap are things men strive to claim. For that last day allowed on earth to me. I'd be the man I've often wished to be. 25 jj valedictorian Ronald Wa ne Anderson SALITATORIAN LuAnn Marie Geiser Presentation of Scholastic Honors Paul E. Embree. Cramer The Big Red Machine In the past few years, the Basketball team has picked up the title of The Big Red Machine. At the start of the season, the machine sputtered and dropped a game by a one point decision to Ravenna. 75-76. However, the machine started rolling after this and ran off with 10 w ins in a row . In its 9th win. the machine began to break down. First of all. we blew a tire. MIKE SHEVFRS severely injured his ankle. I hen our tie rod broke down. ROBBIE GAFFNFY. with a severely bruised knee was out of the game. Our extra wheel developed a bulge on its tire, which put it out of commisssion. MIKH KETTl.F- BOROl (ill broke a blood vessel in his mouth. And then our engine develped a bad cough. BEN CilLLIGAN caught the flu. Last but not least, in the last game of the season, we blew another tire. PAL I CHRISTEN spruined his ankle. (Not in the game ... It was in the pre-game warm-up!) Luckily we had a good transmission who kept us in gear all year JOHN JACOBSEN. And a mighty good spark plug who didn't misfire all year FYKI ARNOLD. And a very good piston who kept pumping in good shape all season Rl S I Y ARNOLD. Now with all of these problems, our chief mechanic. MR. BOEKA. was kept mighty busv and we managed to lose 4 big ballgames and won only I. Finally by the time our machine was about to reach the finish line, we began to get healthy again. We beat Arnold by 8 in the first round of the Districts. However, on our next out- ing we ran out of gas and lost to Ansley by one. Ending our season w ith a 12 w in and 6 loss record. We were sure disappointed that our season came to an end so suddenly. Being the coach, how- ever. I must say that I'm mighty proud of our teams accomplishments. We have a group of sen- ior boys graduating this year who have given us many thrills the past 3 years posting a record of 45 w ins and 15 losses during this time. Bovs. I believe vou deserve a bie round of Tyke Arnold Mike Kcltlehorough Mike Seevcrs alalie Hardy Female Coyotes Converse sneak- ers and musk oil perfume both lucked away in a gym bag. Pigtails in the wind. Yes. the kid with the basketball is a girl. She wants to win. She runs hard, tries hard because she has a job to do. She's part of the team. She doesn’t have to stay after school and run and run. but she wants to. She doesn't have to fight so hard. After all girls are supposed to sit back and let a man do the job. Hut she still plays. She’s used to the ribbing she gets from the guys. It's expected. Hut why does she play? Because after the game there's that goini feeling of being part of something.
