Class History In Jan. of 1963, nine bright cheerful faces greeted Mrs. Huntzinger. Members of this class were; Donald Johnson. Deanna Seevers, Steve Hostick, Rodney Coleman, Anita Clay, Glenn Moore, and Jim Beckman. 1964 brought many country students to the city. These first graders were joined by Danny McAlevy, Larry Bader, S. Castin, Brenda Howard, Lanny Curtis, Steve Taylor, Debbie Olson, Linda Burnett, Russ Sommer, Chuck Spanel, and David Sterner. We lost J. Barker. Mrs. Squire was our teacher. In the second grade Mrs. Anderson taught a large class of nineteen students, joining us were Cindy Bartak, Ronnie Jacobsen, J. Campbell, and Kathy Dixon. Glenn Moore and S. Castin left. In the third grade Mrs. Switzer taught seventeen students. The only new student was Anna Fagan, while loos- ing Jim Beckman, Brenda Howard, and J. Campbell. In Anselmo, Miss Dewey’s third grade was joined by Jim Thiel, S. Cullaghan, Bruce Spanel and Marsha Fred, while Anna Fagan left making a class of thirteen. In 1967 the Merna fourth grade was taught by Mrs. Christensen. It was joined by M. Kettleborough and Janet Reynolds. Then loosing Steve Taylor. The fourth grade in Anselmo was joined by Mark Manning. Rocky Rush, Micky McCaslin, and Judy Hunt left making a class of ten guided by Mrs. Gilligan. In Mema the fifth grade was joined by Roger Trew, Francine Mach, and Deanna Bean. We lost Donald John- son. and M. Kettleborough. Their teacher was Mrs. Keiborz. In Anselmo Miss Dewey again taught this class in the fifth grade. Joining them again was Micky McCaslin, Mark Manning left. In 1969 the Merna sixth grade, under the guidance of Mr. Mills, were joined by LeRoy Gilmore and Peg Adams. Rod Coleman, Deanna Bean, and Linda Burnett left again leaving a class of eighteen. Mrs. Vanderven- ter taught the Anselmo sixth grade which remained a stable ten. Entering Junior High, the Anselmo students joined the Merna students at Mema. Joining us were Greg Goodner and Judy Hunt. Leaving was Janet Reynolds, making a total of twenty-nine students under direction of Mrs. Erikson. In the eighth grade twenty-seven students were taught by Mrs. Smets. There was one new student, Brenda Howard and the class lost Francine Mach and Kathy Geiser. Entering high school was a big step. As freshmen we lost Deanne Seevers and Jim Thiel, while joining us were Cindy Fisher, Cindy Griffin, and Barb Lauer. Our sponsor was Doug Shada. Our Sophomore year brought Glendora Goodner and Bill Cole, Kurt Spurlock joined us at the end of the first semester. Departing from the class were Cindy Fisher and Cindy Griffin. Our class was sponsored by Miss Egbert. In our Junior year we lost Brenda Howard, but were joined by Claudia Haynes and Randy Arslanian making a class of thirty. The class presented the play The Nervous Wreck and later sponsored the prom and banquet, Shambala. Our sponsors were Mr. and Mrs. Uhmacher. Finally our Senior year arrived and with it Jose Baca from Nuevo Casa Grankes, Mexico and Anders Lindberg from Stockholm, Sweden. Leaving us were Barb Lauer, Bill Cole, and Micky McCaslin. We presented the play Grandad Steps Out. The class flower is the red rose and the class colors are blue and silver. On Saturday, April 26, we left on our sneak trip to the Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri. Mr. and Mrs. Uhrmacher were not able to sponsor us, so Mr. and Mrs. Osterhoudt and Mr. and Mrs. Adams sponsored us. As we depart from the halls of AMHS we say good-bye to all the hearts we touched, if any, and we wish the Junior class good luck as Seniors next year. 22
