But after all, the frostirfg has little food value and serves only as an appetizer. They debated with three schools-St. Louis Park with a decision of 3-1 in their favor. Chaska High School with a decision of 2-l in their favor, and last with Excelsior High School with a decision of 3-O in Excelsior's favor. Debate offers fine practice and a sure cure for those who wish to over- come stage fright weaknesses. This sport also develops clear and quick think- ing and offers an opportunity for those who do not care for athletic games. We feel that our team has had a very successful year and although they have not been victorious they have learned true sportsmanship and created a spirit of friendliness between Anoka High and other schools. Much of their accomplishment is due to the splendid work of Miss Ovegaard. Declamation Anoka High was well represented this year in the field of declamation. We are very proud of our "declamers" and also extend our thanks to Miss E. Swanson for her splendid help toward our success. In the sub-district contest, held February ll, in the Elk River High School, we won two first places and one second: James Roddy received first place on his selection "The Prisoner at the Bar," Dick Hall in the humorous division with "Mr. Mishowsky and Der Younk Leddy" also received first place. and last but not least, Ruth Herbold in the dramatic division with "Davy Jones' Locker" received second place. On February 25, the district declamation contest was held at Braham. Our contestants here, James Roddy and Dick Hall, received second places. There was keen competition between the schools this year and we feel very proud and happy over the outcome of our "declamers." Fifty-three

The presidents of the society serve a three months term, giving more people a chance in that capacity. A nne DeLong " Last year the society was called just 'Literary Society", but this year the name "Lambda Sigma" has been chosen. The symbol of the owl was selected last year. We consider this one of the best accomplishments. Another accomplishment worthy of mention is the Lambda Sigma pin. This pins is a tiny silver owl inscribed with the Greek letters L S meaning Lambda Sigma, and each one is proud to be an owner of it, as well as to be a member of the Lambda Sigma Society.
