As the Honor Athlete of the Girls' Athletic Association is announced at the last meeting of the year, we are unable to publish that at this writing. THE ANOKAN liri- Soccer '30-'31 This year, girls from all classes displayed an unusual interest in soccer. On September 29, sixty-two much-enthused girls gported for the nrst practice. A few dropped out, and at the end of the season. the remaining fifty-four took an active part in the tournament. Maybe you would hesitate before calling a few of the Junior and Senior girls the "weaker sex" if you had witnessed any of the following games staged by said girls following a few of the soccer practices. More than one female bit the dust as she was thrown for a six-yard loss. The signals were especially worthy of notice. After eleven practices, a soccer tournament was held. Results were as follows: Games Won Lost Tied Seniors . . . ,..... 3 0 0 Juniors .... . . . l 2 0 Sophomores . . . . . l 2 O Frosh .,.. . . . l 2 0 Basketball '30-'31 A great deal of enthusiasm was centered on girls' basketball this year. Throughout the entire season, the practices were well attended, and as a result, students witnessed four good teams in action in the tournament. The first game, between the Sophomores and Seniors, was good although one-sided-in favor of the Seniors. The final score was 20-10. The Juniors scored a 34-8 victory over the Freshman following the above game. In thc second round. the Freshmen were again defeated, this time by the strong Senior sextette, who pushed through for a 36-2 victory. The Juniors were again vic- torious, defeating the Sophomores by a score of 25-9. In the finals. which of course proved the most interesting, the Sophomores edged out the Freshmen 39-12 to win third place. The championship game was hard fought through- out, but the Juniors were unsuccessful in checking the onslaught of the Senior Forty-lllrfz'
