JERRY HPCKER We will always have n ricture of Jerry inter- cepting passes in the front line and racing towards the opponents goel for two sure points. Few centers CHU out-jump him. he scores points from almost impos- sible positions and his peculiar twist hes gained for him 2 reputation all his own. He scored e total of 156 points this season for scoring honors and he was the dependable player on charity tosses. He was CHARLEY LEWIS . on idevl running mate, at guard, for Roy King. The two worked together to perfection. Not re- puted to be a very good shot, he surprised with many long shots from the floor. Most forwards found Charley more than 9 match for them. -ir SEfSOT RESUiE In the closing weeks of September, the first cell for basketball was issued. Prospects for 2 winning team were not is good as they might have been. There were two regulers from last year's team, Estill David- son ond Roy King, and one substitute, Clyde 'cGee. But we were tc lose USbellH in Fovember. However, The fastaJunior High team was back entire. 'fter a few weeks, the rfnks were thinned out and H squad of about twelve players were left to carry oh. It wrs on the fourteenth diy of October, that the team made its initial srpearonce. Letterbox journeyed hopefully to lnnville and the Wetrenmen were drubbed and squashed to the tune of 44-Ql. A freshman sensa- tion was discovered in Junior who scored twenty-one points. ffter 2 two week rest, Eur ing Springs, the terror of former years, clashed with the lulldogs in the Ann- ville gvm. The game vos fest End close throughout, but the home team finally eked out a three-point victory. This time, Junior Fsain led the way in scoring, while the rest termed ur perfectly to offset the loss of HShellH, who vos kept fron rleyinq. During the middle of November, 9 flu epidemic hit the Pnnville campus and left s mere skeleton of 2 team. Nevertheless, P sick team did its best against Hazel- green, one of the strongest teams in the mountains, only to succumb to the tune cf 55-19. Jerry had to be taken from the floor with e high temperature. 1bKee had been boasting one of its best teams in history and prospects weren't so bright for a victory on the dirt court at the county seat. Playing in theif sweat suits and with smile from thc pine knot firCS along the sidelines almost blinding them, Annville fum- bled through A terrible game and finally lost by ? two point margin. The boys played creditably under adverse conditions. There followed a home and home series with 0UGidG. .After a jarring trip over rocks and mud, We Played F1 6 e '
