Glass Hiftory In tho fall of '29, a troop of twenty-four en- thusiastic freshmen descended upon the campus of Ann- Ville Institute from all directions, frmu the valleys, hills, and lowlands of Jackson and Leo counties. Ji the Friday evening if the first week, We were initiated into the woys of high school life by the up- per classmen at the high school Hhixeru. No pain or embarassment was spared us then. During the progress of the following weeks, we became an organized class with Hooma Uunnigan, Pres- ident, and Miss Wilkens, Sponsor. Our class soon be- gan to make itself known, bein: represented on the varsity baskettall team by Estill Davidson. Almost before we knew it, our freshman year had passed, our greenness had disappefred, and nie sumnnr vacation was over. Our Sophomore year was ahnost a replica of the first. Yet, when we came together, we found, to our regret, thtf our number had decreased to sixteen. lorene Payne was elected president and Liss Larcus was our Sponsor. Then our president failed to return at the beginning of the second semester, Our vice-president, Morgan Powell toik h e r place. Toward the end of our sophomore year, our class made a name for itself, through the presentption of the Play, Hhodernizing Aunt Linnien. During this year we entered nore and more into the activities of the school and the activities of the Class became more varied. Our friendships and pleasures increesed, for we were beginning to know each other better. lhe Institute began to neon more to us, for, ty this time, we were gaining some idea of the nean- ing of its standards. 0 our third year of high school life began under a different circumstance, for we had the supervised study system. Estil Davidson was elected president this year and Mr. Dunigan acted as sponsor. This year xvas marked by two events of importance. AT the begin- ning of the year our class was invited to a party given by the Seniors and toward the close of the year, our class responded by giving the Seniors a picnic.
