CLASS HISTORY That glorious day in September, 1944, when our m othe r s made us put away the cars and dolls and get out the schoolbooks, seems like yesterday but was a little more than a decade ago. Some of us cried, but some of us were brave and ready for the big c halle nge which faced us. Miss Bomberger and Miss Keener did a good in teaching us the stories of Dick and Jane. The next year Mrs. Shroyer and Mrs. Krieder were our teachers. Remember the rhythm band? In third grade we were divide d - half of the class had Mrs. Krieder again and the others had Miss Darkes in the high school building. A. Our fourth grade teachers were Miss Berry and Mrs. Light. In connection with our arith- metic class, we set up a grocery store in Miss Berry's room. In fifth grade our teachers were Mrs. L oos e and Mrs. Keefer. Both rooms took a trip to Hershey to visit the Museum in con- nection with our history class. This was our first trip as a class, and our parents cooperated by providing transportation. In sixth grade our te ac he r s were Mrs. Loose and Mrs. Lannon, who took our class on a picnic to Fink's park on the last day of school. That summer passed very quickly and we entered junior high in the fall of 1950. With the addition of North and South Annville students, our class doubled. We finally got a chance to dress up and go to dances on weekends. Our president in seventh grade was Brook Hunter. In eighth grade Ken Longenecker was selected class president and we took a trip to Hershey Park on the last day of school. In ninth grade with Brook Hunter as p r e s ide nt, we enjoyed two big events. The first was the King and Queen of Hearts Dance in February. Larry Miller and Jan- ice Strohwere the King and Queen. Finally the transfer exercises arrived and we were anxious and proud to give speeches and receive our diplomas. Finallywe were inhigh school! We elected Glenn Garrison, president of the class. We se- cured our classjackets in this, our Sophomore year. In our Junior year we promptly re-elected Glenn Garrison, president. This was perhaps our busiest year in high school. We ordered our classrings and presented Beauty and the Beef with Ken Longenecker at his best as Beef. Janice Windle, Pat Stoner, Fay Kohr, and Pat Schaffner were elected to the May Court. In May An Evening in Paris was the setting for our Junior-SeniortProm. In our Senior year we elec- ted John Salem, president. I.n November we presented Strange Boarders which was very well r e c eive d by the public. In February, Nancy Richwine and Larry Miller presided at the Snow Ball. All spring the Ye arb ook Staff worked hard on the Greystone. In May, we took our last finals. Finally the great moment arrived - commencement. Everyone seemed a little quieter than usual when his name was called to receive his diploma. We will never forget the happy times we had, and the friends we made in Annville High.
