Cfaaa .Mafory It was the first day of school A brighter and more beautiful morning was never seen every one was so proud to be going to school for the first time Yes we the dignified seniors of 1950 were but babes so to speak when 1n 1938 we proudly toddled w1th our fond mamas and papas to enter first grade It was then under the guidance of Mlss Evans and Mlss Hill that we learned to read or have you for gotten those famous words I see Dick Here IS Dick Run Dlck run Second grade saw us with our first arrthmetlc and spelling books Remember the time we had learning to add That year was also the first year that A H S had a May Day and because of our petlteness we were lucky enough to furnish to the worthy cause two llttle girls for the court and two fiower girls Third grade found us quite grown up as we entered the large greystone building on Marshall Street However it wasnt until fifth and sixth grades that love began to blossom forth within our midst For two whole years at recess the boys chased the girls under the pretense of playing bear too bad it now IS vice versa Un fortunately the war lnterrupted our lives dur mg the same period and much of our spare time was spent sellmg bonds or collecting tm cans And then the day we had all dreamed about so long arrived For the first time we gazed upon the awe inspiring portals of the upstalrs and became part of Junior High School The anticipatlon of our first dance came and went We became tamed down to study hall and soon eighth grade Eighth grade brought us our first gym classes and our first crack at lntramural basketball Luckily everyone pulled through the eighth grade county examinations and we were all set for high school Ninth grade came and with 1t a flood of new faces lt was fun getting acquainted with every one and soon our class was one large happy family Much to our dismay under a new hugh school curriculum we found ourselves still a part of Junior High School However when the excitement of this subsided we settled down to put our class in the history books With our first class president Kenneth Um berger we planned the first freshman sopho more prom For the first time m the history of the Annvnlle school system we had a junior high school basketball team which under the coaching of Richard Murr had a very suc cessful season Our girls pulled through to w1n the mtramural glrls basketball champlonshlp Then as a climax we participated in the first evenlng J umor High School Transfer Exercises complete with speeches and diplomas Thus with this record back of us we entered high school Agam not to be outdone by any one we blossomed out one day 1n the first class jackets ever gotten by our school They were the color of our class colors blue and steel We presented this same year a successful sopho more play The Adventures of Tom Sawyer And then all too soon we were Juniors With Alberta Barnhart as our president we began to come out of the shy shells of sopho mores and thmgs began to happen In large buses we honored the dead by v1s1t1ng Gettys burg and on another occasion we visited the capital at Harnsburg Our junlor play Hen peeked Henry took its place in the history of Annvllle High Followlng precedent we re celved our class rmgs And then in the merry month of May not only did we send four of our beauties to represent us in the annual May Day Exercises but we also entertamed the semor class m our Starlight Roof for the first semi open prom And now at last we have come to the greatest thrill of all that of being seniors We at once elected Robert Houston as our president Al ready our semor play Girl Shy has come and gone Right now the homework IS p1l1ng higher headaches are becommg longer and the days are fiylng by In a short time gradua tion day will be here When it comes w1th 1ts smiles and its tears may we look back over the happlest years of our lives with gratitude and ever be proud of our Alma Mater O . . , , - . , 9 ' 9 9 9 9 ' ' - 9 9 9 9 9 ' 9 so ' 99 ' ' 9 9 ' ss ' - 53 u ' 99 ' ' ' ' 9 9 ' ' 9 9 . 9 . . . , 9 1 , - 9 . . , . . , . . as 99 . 7 ' 9 9 ' - 9 ' 7 . . . n . - - I I .
