-7 shTeldWz ANNIE WRIGHT SCHOOL 1971-1972 SHIELD I don ' t know enough, replied the scarecrow cheerfully. My head is stuffed with straw you know, and that is why I am going to OZ to ask him for some brains. Oh I see, said the Tin Woodsman. But after all, brains are not the best things in the world. Have you any? inquired the scarecrow. No, my head is quite empty, answered the woodman. But once I had brains, and a heart also: so having tried them both, I should much rather have a heart. I remember all those thousands of hours that I spent in grade school watching the clock waiting for recess or lunch or to go home. Waiting for anything but school. My teachers could easily have ridden with Jesse James for all the time they stole from me. 69 I Often wonder why People Walking into my life To Arouse my feelings And Walk back out again Without Even saying GOODBYE. You are a child of the universe. you must face up to reality you should be yourself, try to be happy, although you may find the world is not up to its good standards, although you may find misjudgement in some of the world ' s problems. The world needs you, and if you are yourself and help others in time of need, then they too will help others. Remember, the world is always beautiful, even though there are matters of which are not perfect. But if we all try to help and understand. Then the world will be beautiful to everyone. I quit. I resign. take my life and cast it from your hands. take my soul and hide it. take my thoughts and scatter them in the sky from a B-52 like bombs because I give up. take my mind from your files and burn it with the village and bury the ashes with your buildings of black. take my freedom and shut it in cages. take my feelings and trample them in moon dust beneath Aldrin ' s feet. take my love and spread it in the sky over beautiful L.A. take my body and burn it as as rocket fuel because I ' m tired of fighting and it ' s getting kind of lonely having a soul. so take it. take my soul take my mind take my thoughts take my life. you have won. I give up. I resign. I quit.  Is not the sky the Father and the earth a Mother and are not all living things with feet or wings or roots their children? THE SHIELD BOARD FACULTY ADVISORS Mrs. C.
