The Shield 1969 The Annie Wight Seminary lacoma, Washington ALMA MATER Hail to thee, our Alma Mater, Seminary fair; May achievements crown thy labors Is our earnest prayer. Chorus: Hearts turn toward our Alma Mater May our lives at length Prove thy daughters bear thy motto: On From Strength to Strength. M Deep and true as those blue waters Thou art reared above, May the characters thou moldest Hold thee in their love. (Chorus) Pure as yonder snow-clad mountains Where our glances fall, May we in the years to follow Answer to thy call. (Chorus) DEDICATION Miss Helen McKay For your forty-three years of dedication and service to this school, both in teaching and counselling, we dedicate this Shield to you. Through the future years, we will remember your dedi- cation to all students. You have watched the school grow and seen many girls graduate. As we, the Class of 1969, graduate, we wish you every happiness in the years to come. 4 FACULTY Mr. Harold F. Witman, Headmaster Change is axiomatic in any society, but especially in this era. You have been privileged to witness a degree of change unprece- dented in history. When you were in the early elementary grades the first U. S. satellite was launched. Now, three men have orbited the moon and possibly before your matriculation in college one will have stepped on lunar soil. Alterations persist in daily life as well as they should. Some of you have accepted the increasingly heavy mantle of responsi- bility as it has been granted. Othere are still in the throes of learning that with freedom goes a greater duty. This duty is not only to oneself, but also to others. You are a fascinating class. Complex and direct. Sophisti- cated and fun-loving. Musical and literate. While difficult to comprehend on occasion, you have been a challenge. I trust you will always be ready for the complexities of the months and years ahead. 6 16 ■ UNDERCLASSMEN CLASS XI— FIRST ROW: D.
