SQPHQMORE CLASS HISTORY ale Thirty-five Silly sophomores marched into Annaxvan High last fall to begin another school year full of education and activities. During the year we were sorry to lose Anna jean Vermiere but were glad to receive into our class two new members, jack Bumphrey from Tampico and Rosemary XVancket from Peoria, and one former classmate who dropped out last year, Bebe Lee Vetter. One of our first accomplishments was our formal CPD reception given the freshmen in the form of an initiation. XVe sophomores had quite a time giving instead of receiving. Most of us received enough candy and gum in one day to last us for a week. Another big class project was decorating a float for the Homecoming Parade. Although we did not receive any prize we thought ours was all right-the slogan, Skin 'em Alive, might have been a little extreme. Five of our class members presented a skit called, g'VVe're New Here, for lifducational VVeek. These five were: Delner Doubler, Tom Reider, Charlene Parker, Marian jorgensen, and Ronald De Splinter. The Biology Club, of which every sophomore is a member, sponsored an all-school roller skating party in April. Some fun! lf you're well padded, that is. , Our class has been well represented in the various clubs and activities. Six of our I9 girls belong to the girls' chorus and I2 of the class belong to the band. A big percentage of our boys went out for football, basketball, track and baseball, and all of our girls are active in G.A.A. with most of them going bowling and Swimming at Kewanee each Monday evening. In May our class decorated for the Senior's Baccalaureate and Com- mencement Exercises. It has been a year full of hard study for all of us Cwithout a doubtj but we have had fun, and we will be back again next year.
