Place: St. Louis, A Class Reunion Time: 1960 Ten years have elapsed since the twenty-two sophisticated Seniors of 1950 graduatel from the halls of Annawan High. Here we are again, all together for the first time since that eventful date. XYhile resting in Forrest Park Cwe aren't as young as we used to bei we began, one at a time. to relate a few of the many things that have happened to us since we were last together. Donna Price is now chief bookkeeper and private secretary to her husband, manager of l . C. Dewey lilevator at Mineral. ln her spare time she gives dancing lessons at Prokup's Modern Dancing School. Charlotte Greenwood has moved from the farm to the big city of Kcwanee. She was well on her way to a singing career on the radio, but sacrificed this career to become a house- wife. She and her husband have recently opened a restaurant, Kirk's Kitchen. Geraldine l-'ronk and Lucille jacobs have been hired as chief cook and dishwasher, but from the looks of their third fingers, left hand, they won't be there long. Lucille and Geraldine are also owners of the modern Dilly Dally Hotel in Annawan. Gretchen johnson, now a Power's Model, has just made her debut as a cover girl on the Look Out Magazine. This magazine is owned and published by none other than our old classmate, Ralph Vande Voorde. Ralph has been campaigning for the position of Governor of New York. Betty Decker has just returned from a tour of liurope. She became a millionaire on this tour by selling portrait paintings of her classmates of 1950. You smile, not frown when dancing to the music of Bud Brown. Bud and his band, now touring the United States, scheduled his tour so that he would be in St. Louis for this reun- ion, He is now playing at the La Plaza Hotel in down town St. Louis. lilaine Van Hyfrc is the pianist with Bud's Band, but her husband is giving her quite a bit of competition in the saxophone section. They are t1'aining the twins, junior and lClaine, to continue their work when they retire. Shirley Shaw, who is now married, is living on a 6,000 acre ranch in Arizona. Shirley' and Vernon raise Palimino horses as a hobby. They had no trouble in cruising to St. Louis from Arizona in three hours with their new jet controlled 1960 Buick. Marlene Gripp is now living in Puerto Rico. Her husband owns a sugar plantation there. ln her spare time. Marlene teaches the native children about American ways. She holds her classes in the west wing of her mansion. VVard johnson didn't know if he could make it to our reunion or not, but at the last minute his business appointment was cancelled, so he jumped into his latest invention, an atomic vapor speedsteru and-zoom-here he is! For thrills and spills visit NVardalines' Speedwayu in Miami, Florida. Lois liarley and lidwin have had a busy time today. Between the quads, john, jim, joe and jerry, and the twins, judy and janet, she hasn't had much time to visit. She has decided to leave the kids down on the farm in Indiana for our 1970 reunion. Les Stockton didn't have U10 far to come for our reunion' today. He has been visiting relatives here in Missouri. That sweet little chile at his side looks like the future Mrs. Stockton. The committee for notifying all the 1950 Seniors of Annawan about this reunion had a hard time locating Rose XVancket. She and her very new husband were on their honeymoon in Canada, but were finally tracked down by our detective Tick Dracy. Carol Nowers seems to have been living a most fascinating life since her graduation. She and her husband, Dean, left in the spring of '52 for a round the world trip. They have been back in the states for just six months. Today, they have been entertaining us with movies that they made in the various countries which they visited. A lot of the girls here today are wearing clothes that Donna Dynes has just imported from Paris, France. She is head buyer of women's apparel for Macy's Department Store in New York. Shirley Clementz, owner of Clem's Dude Ranch in Texas, had a distinguished guest at her ranch last week. Roy Rogers came all the way from Hollywood, California, to buy one of her horses. She and Bud came here dude style, but brought their favorite horses along in a trailer. This evening we are all going to take a cruise on Bet and Bobs' floating night club. Betty Thompson and her husband contract only the best bands to plav on their boat. They travel with the weather so that they can always have dancing on deck. Vernon Blackert has enlisted his veterinarian services to the Brookfield Zoo. He has adopted a Panda as a family pet. He brought it with him today and it is entertaining the liarlev children. Marilyn DeMink and Cliff stopped here for the reunion on their way from Santa Anna, California, to New York, where Marilyn plans to enter the Mrs. America contest as Cali- fornia's representative. She is the only red-head entered. Shirley Shaw is going to take Marilyn's daughter back to Arizona with her while Marilyn is in New York. None of us is worrying about eating too much today and getting sick, because Dr. john Gripp is here to take care of us. He drove up an hour ago in his shiny new Cadillac. He is going to hang up his shingle in New Orleans next week.
