'si' V -- - -- 1- , Nxt, 5-1-1.1-Q-fun.-0 ,-,..frg.-Y Af THIRD DIVISION The primary function of Third Division is to carry out those phases of deck seamanship such as mooring, replenishment at sea, cargo hand- ling, that may be assigned to it. More specifically, Third Division is responsible for various external and internal spaces of the ship. It is responsible for the antenna deck, hull structure catwalks, accommodation ladders, boat booms, and the after port and starboard fquarterdeckl sponsons. Third Division is responsible for the cleaning, maintenance, and preservation of such internal spaces as the trash burner room, reel room, crew's training room, and various below-deck passageways. Third Division personnel help man the gun mounts during GQ, stand underway lookout, helm, and lee helm Watches, and supply boat- swain's mates for both underway and in-port Watches. ENS. R. P.
