When Annandale High School opened its doors in 1954, we, the Class of 1959, were its first eighth grade class. We never had to conform to the customs of our predecessors or follow blindly the rules of the past. It was our duty to pave the way for those aheadg it was our responsibility to establishvtraditions that were worthwhile. We organized a student government and put it to work improving our school. We formed interest clubs, and estab- lished chapters of the national honor societies. We helped to write a constitution and an honor code. With our talents, we won a name for Annandale outside its local sphere. Each member of our Class gave part of himself to Annandale High, projected a portion of his personality into its life. And for this reason, we have a feeling of possession that no other class can ever have-we were the first to work and play and laugh and cry THROUGH THE YEARS at Annandale. FOREWORD
