IJEDICHTIUH To our community we dedicate the 1951 An-Jo-Co-Hi. Our high school represents the planning and co-operation of many communitiesg without all of these communities we could not have as good a school. As we realize the part in which a community has in shaping our ideals, our dreams, and our destinies, indeed even the destiny of our nation, andbecause we are proud of the way in which our community plays that part, it is to it we dedicate this annual.

I IH lIlElHUHIHHl Mr. L. W. Brown, member and President of our Board of Educa- tion, will always be remembered as an educator, a civic leader, anda Christian gentleman. His philosophy of education centeredupon the student: his life centered upon the Master Teacher. In life, he achieved that pinnacle of teaching success described by Ruskin, in death, he gained the immortality set forth by the Psalmist. Education does not mean teaching people what they do not know. It means teaching them to behave as they do not behave. It is not teaching the youth the shapes of letters and the tricks of numbers, and then leaving them to. turn their arithmetic to roguery and their literature to lust. It means, on thecontrary training them into the perfect exercise and kingly continence oftheir bodies and souls. It is a painful, continual, and difficult work to be done by kindness, by watching, by warning, by precept, and by praise, but above all -- By Example. John Ruskin And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his seasong his leaf also shall not witherg and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. -- Psalm 1:3
